It took us three trains and well over an hour to travel to the Bronx. It was good getting out of the underground tunnel and on the elevated line to see over the Bronx. When we finally got off the train it was windy and felt really cold, however once out of the wind it was quite nice.

After the sad letdown of the Washington Zoo hopes weren’t high for this Zoo. However we ended up having a great time. The zoo was really big, with the exhibits quite spread out.

Lots of birds to start, huge birds of prey, reptiles, jungle animals, bison, bears, snow leopards – there was lots to see.

In addition to all the animal exhibits our pass entitled us to to a ride on the Carousel and a Nature play climb thing.

We left before it got dark and caught 2 trains home to Grand Central Station. From there we found an ultra-cool food court type place ‘Urbanspace’ for some dinner.

After back at the hotel we walked a few blocks north to Insomnia Cookies, that we learned about on the Food Tour. Warm cookies and ice cream was a delicious end to the day.

  1. Just a check-in to say I’m loving seeing your photos and hearing about your adventures. So interesting!!! Almost thinking we don’t need to worry about going ourselves…
